DAY 1, Saturday - Depart for Italy

DAY 2, Sunday - Arrive in Venice
Arrive in Venice and transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure in this magical city built over a hundred small islands and connected by 400 bridges. Tonight, attend an orientation meeting at approximately 6 PM (exact time will be advised on tour arrival day) with your Tour Manager on the upcoming journey that awaits you in Italy, followed by a Welcome Dinner with your fellow travelers

DAY 3, Monday - Murano & Tour of Venice
The discovery of Venice begins on the Island of Murano, known for its artistic and colorful glassware. While here, visit a local factory to witness the art of glassblowing. Afterward, continue to the main Venice Island and take a walking tour with your local guide through the maze of narrow alleyways and bridges before reaching St. Mark's Square. Upon reaching the square, stop to view its most prominent monuments, the pink marble Doge's Palace, Bridge of Sighs, and golden Basilica of San Marco. The Doge's Palace was the official residence of the Venetian ruler. The Bridge of Sighs offers one of the most notable scenes of this Romantic city. Marvel at the golden Basilica of San Marco, that is one of the city's most recognizable landmarks. It was built over several centuries in a fusion of Byzantine, Roman and Venetian architecture. The rest of the day is yours to explore Venice at leisure, or to participate in this afternoon's optional Gondola Ride, offering a different perspective of this unique city built on water

DAY 4, Tuesday - Palladian Villa Pisani and Ferrara
This morning visit one of the most famous Palladian Villas, the magnificent Villa Pisani that lies on the Riviera del Brenta. After having housed kings, emperors & dogi in its 114 rooms it is now a National Museum that cherishes 18th and 19th century works of art and furniture, including the fresco masterpiece of Giambattista Tiepolo on the ceiling of the ballroom. Stroll in its gardens, view the maze, exedra, orangery and the small woods before reaching Ferrara, designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for its beauty and cultural importance. In the afternoon arrive in Ravenna, former capital of the Western Roman Empire, in time for dinner

DAY 5, Wednesday - Ravenna City Tour
This morning breathe the art, history and culture of Ravenna. Renown in the world for its artistic and historical heritage, the city preserves the richest mosaic heritage dated back to the 5th and 6th centuries AD inside its splendid early Christian and Byzantine monuments. Take a walk through history, starting with the Roman times, through the Renaissance until the 19th century, when the city was rediscovered by famous visitors such as Lord Byron, Oscar Wilde, Sigmund Freud and Gustav Klimt. Visit the Basilica of San Vitale, the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia and the Basilica of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo. Afternoon is at leisure or, perhaps take the optional tour to the Republic of San Marino

DAY 6, Thursday - Urbino
Today travel through the soft hills of Marche region to Urbino, city of great historical and artistic importance. Surrounded by walls and adorned by stone buildings, the town changed from simple village to cradle of Renaissance thanks to the work of most important artists. The origins of Urbino are ancient but it was in the 15th Century that the city experienced its cultural grandeur. Thanks to Federico di Montefeltro and its court, Urbino acquired its artistic and monumental excellence, attracting in the Duchy, the very best Renaissance culture could offer and creating the perfect environment where the most famous painter of that time was born: Raphael. Walking through the narrow and steep streets you will see all the Renaissance architecture with the imposing Ducal Palace. After some free time in the city, continue south along the Adriatic Coast to Pescara. Tonight, enjoy dinner together

DAY 7, Friday - Farm lunch & Castel del Monte
Travel south to Puglia Region, renown for its tasty food. Enjoy lunch with typical products of this land before continuing to the gorgeous Castel del Monte, an extraordinary medieval fortress celebrated for its unique octagonal design. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this 13th-century castle, built by Frederick II, is considered one of the best preserved medieval castles in Southern Italy, used as a site of the famous movie "The Name of the Rose" with Sean Connery. A tour of this fortress highlights the ingenious architecture, magnificent structure, and its massive public halls. Afterward, drive to Matera for dinner and overnight

DAY 8, Saturday - Matera and its Sassi
This morning visit Matera and learn about its roots connecting to the Paleolithic Age as you explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The mysterious Sassi (ancient stone dwellings carved into rock) are believed to be the first human settlements in Italy. Over the centuries, the Sassi were adapted into family homes. After lunch, the balance of the day is at leisure

DAY 9, Sunday - Alberobello and Lecce
Begin with a visit to the delightful town of Alberobello, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, that introduces you to the Apulian traditional dry-stone huts known as Trulli. In existence since the 14th century, these unusual structures featuring pyramidal, domed, or conical roofs are remarkable examples of mortarless drywall construction, a prehistoric building technique used in this region. Afterward, in Lecce, stroll along 300-year-old cobblestone streets past exquisite Baroque architecture. You'll understand why Lecce is fondly named the "Florence of the South". After viewing Piazza del Duomo and the Roman amphitheater dating back to the 2nd century, admire the Basilica of Santa Croce, a masterpiece of Southern Baroque. Time to wander on your own and perhaps dine at one of the quaint trattorias in the city center

DAY 10, Monday - Full Day in Lecce
Spend the day at leisure to explore Lecce on your own or choose to participate in the optional tour through the Salento Peninsula. A picturesque drive will take you all the way to Santa Maria di Leuca, at the end of the tip of the Italian heel, where the Adriatic Sea meets the Ionian Sea. Rocky coastline, beaches, fishing villages, and watchtowers are waiting to be experienced in the most remote area of Puglia region. Stop along the beautiful coastline and indulge in the Mediterranean atmosphere of these beautiful shores and waters. Enjoy lunch with local products and dishes before continuing along the coast to reach Otranto, the easternmost Italian town. Walk the historical center surrounded by its ancient walls at your own pace, take time to wander the small shops, and why not savor a gelato while sitting in an outdoor café before returning to Lecce

DAY 11, Tuesday - Masseria Lunch and Polignano a Mare
Begin your day with a visit to a beautiful local farmhouse Masseria, watch how food is prepared and perhaps acquire some century old cooking secrets. Enjoy lunch with regional specialties including local wine. Continue to the charming village of Polignano a Mare. Spend time exploring this charming village with its dramatic landscape over the sea and its white houses before arriving in Bari, capital of Puglia

DAY 12, Wednesday - Bari
The exploration of Bari starts in the revitalized narrow streets of the Old City (Bari Vecchia). View Bari Cathedral and the stunning Romanesque Basilica of San Nicola, housing the relics of St. Nicholas, known as Father Christmas. Next, your historical walking tour reveals 12th century Castello Normanno-Svevo built by the Normans. Perhaps stroll the harbor's bustling open-air fish market where locals buy their fish right out of the sea. Eating raw fish here is a regional tradition! Linger on your own, explore Bari's pretty squares, admire the architecture, or just sip an espresso at an outdoor café and "people-watch." Take the optional tour to the historic seaside town of Trani on the Adriatic coast with its picturesque harbor and 12th-century Cathedral di San Nicola Pellegrino, spectacularly positioned at the water's edge. Tonight, gather together with your newfound friends at a Farewell Dinner. Time to say arrivederci and share wonderful memories of this discovery of Italy's Adriatic coast
