DAY 2, Sunday - Arrive in Palermo
Arrive in Palermo and transfer to your hotel. The energetic city of Palermo is the capital of Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. Tonight, attend an orientation meeting at approximately 6 PM (exact time will be advised on tour arrival day) with your Tour Manager to discuss the upcoming journey that awaits you in Italy, followed by a Welcome Dinner with your fellow travelers

DAY 3, Monday - Monreale Cathedral, Tour Palermo's Old City
Travel to the hilltop town of Monreale to visit the Norman Cathedral, an architectural masterpiece, with its interior of glittering 12th century Byzantine mosaics. Return to Palermo for a tour of the ancient Old City with its incredible mix of architectural styles, including its magnificent Cathedral. In the afternoon, discover Palermo on your own with its bustling street markets, winding alleyways, and colorful back streets. Perhaps choose to join the optional tour to the charming seaside town of Cefalu, distinguished by its medieval settings. Here, see the magnificent Piazza del Duomo and the delightful Fisherman's Village nestled on one of Sicily's most beautiful sand beaches. Stroll the picturesque lanes in the historical center before returning to Palermo

DAY 4, Tuesday - Erice, Farm Lunch
Drive the winding roads to mountaintop Erice, a wonderfully preserved medieval town with breathtaking views and a great historical presence. Walk along the cobbled streets lined with superb examples of Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance architecture. Savor the island's landmark windmills and salt mines before reaching a local farm. Your lunch will feature some of the area's local delicacies, including extra virgin olive oil and wine. Arrive in Agrigento and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure. DAY 5, Wednesday - Tour Agrigento's Valley of the Temples
Today, discover Agrigento's celebrated Valley of the Temples, the largest and best preserved temple ruins outside of mainland Greece. Tour this magnificent archaeological park that consists of eight Greek temples, built between 430 and 510 B.C., all majestically positioned in the same area on rocky crests south of modern day Agrigento. Indeed, it is an amazing sight to behold! After lunch, travel to the coastal town of Giardini Naxos. Evening is at leisure in this resort town

DAY 6, Thursday - Mt. Etna and Taormina
Begin the day with a visit to the lava-crusted slopes of Mt. Etna, which stands 11,000 feet tall, dominates the scenery, and is the most active volcano in Europe! Ascend the Mount to reach the Silvestri Craters; step carefully on the varied layers of lava which have solidified over the centuries. Learn about Etna’s impact on the surrounding area and its unique geology before returning to Giardini Naxos. In the afternoon, a panoramic tour of the city that includes the massive Greek Theater, one of the largest in Sicily, from where you can enjoy remarkable panoramas of the city and countryside. The rest of the day is at leisure in the upper town of Taormina to enjoy all of the many delights in this marvelous city. Shop to your heart’s content at some of the chicest boutiques in Italy, have an aperitif overlooking the Bay of Naxos, or indulge in some of Italy’s most delectable food

DAY 7, Friday - Full Day in Giardini Naxos
Full day at leisure in Giardini Naxos, or join the not to be missed optional tour to Siracusa. Here, you can step back in time to the bygone era of Greek Sicily, and explore the birthplace of Archimedes. Visit Neapolis Archaeological Park, the Greek Theatre, the remains of Roman Amphitheater and the "Ear of Dionysius," an awe-inspiring artificial limestone cave renowned for its outstanding acoustics. Then, admire its old quarter, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located on the island of Ortygia before returning to Giardini Naxos. Tonight, savor dinner together

DAY 8, Saturday - Arrive in Venice
This morning, depart for your early flight to Venice. Arrive in Venice and transfer to your hotel. DAY 9, Sunday - Boat Ride to Murano, Tour of Venice
The discovery of Venice begins with a boat ride to the Island of Murano, known for its artistic and colorful glassware. While here, visit a local factory to witness the art of glassblowing. Afterward, continue to the main Venice Island and take a walking tour with your local guide through the maze of narrow alleyways before reaching St. Mark's Square. Upon reaching the square, stop to view its most prominent monuments, the pink marble Doge's Palace, Bridge of Sighs, and golden Basilica of San Marco. The Doge's Palace was the official residence of the Venetian ruler. The Bridge of Sighs offers one of the most notable scenes of this Romantic city. Marvel at the golden Basilica of San Marco, that is one of the city's most recognizable landmarks. It was built over several centuries in a fusion of Byzantine, Roman and Venetian architecture. The rest of the day is yours to explore Venice at leisure, or to participate in this afternoon's optional Gondola Ride, offering a different perspective of this unique city built on water

DAY 10, Monday - Tuscany & Pisa en route to Florence
Depart Venice and travel through the stunning golden landscape of Tuscany, dotted with olive and fig trees. Visit a local Tuscan farm in the countryside for a wine tasting paired with delectable local specialties. On to Pisa to view the famous Piazza dei Miracoli with its Baptistery, the Duomo, and the Monumental Cemetery, and its famous Leaning Tower, among the most instantly recognizable structures on earth. The four monuments on the extraordinary Piazza create a unique architectural blend of Romanesque and Gothic styles. Then, travel to the lively Renaissance city of Florence, with its priceless art and architecture for overnight

DAY 11, Tuesday - Tour of Florence
Today, take a guided walking tour through the heart of Florence. View the magnificent Duomo, with its Brunelleschi-designed dome, the renowned "Gates of Paradise" of the Baptistery by Ghiberti and Giotto's Bell Tower. You'll be enchanted as you walk through the open-air art museum of Signoria Square, with its Palazzo Vecchio, first residence of the Medici family that today houses the seat of the city government. Continue to the splendid Ponte Vecchio, also known as the "Old Bridge”. Florence is indeed the center of the world's finest art and architecture. Spend the afternoon at leisure in this spectacular Renaissance city. This evening, travel through the Tuscan hills, where a sumptuous dinner with unlimited wine and entertainment awaits

DAY 12, Wednesday - Medieval Assisi City Tour en route to Rome
Depart Florence and venture on to the small medieval town of Assisi perched high on a hill in the Umbria region, with its winding streets and sacred shrines. Assisi is best known as the birthplace of St. Francis of Assisi - patron saint of Italy. Its main attraction is the 13th-century Basilica di San Francesco, one of the artistic highlights of medieval Europe which contains the sacred relics of St. Francis and Giotto's amazing frescoes. The town of Assisi has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its significant art and architecture. Afterward, continue to Rome, the astonishing city built on seven hills. DAY 13, Thursday - Vatican Museums & Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel
Today, visit the Vatican Museums and Michelangelo's masterpiece, the Sistine Chapel. Stroll through one of the most important art collections of the world. Admire the Gallery of Tapestries and the Geographical Maps before arriving to the Sistine Chapel, with its great frescoes by Michelangelo. Continue to St. Peter's Square, passing Bernini's famous colonnade to view St. Peter's Basilica*, built on the burial site of Saint Peter, with the most famous Michelangelo's Pieta. Spend the afternoon at leisure, or join the optional walking tour of the Eternal City's grand piazzas that begins at the Spanish Steps and continues to the legendary Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and the baroque Piazza Navona. DAY 14, Friday - Tour Ancient Rome
The historic tour of ancient Rome begins at the Roman Forum, the central area of the city from which ancient Rome developed. Next, view the triumphal Arch of Constantine, erected by the Roman Senate to commemorate Constantine’s tenth year of leadership over the Eternal City. On to the mighty Colosseum, the largest amphitheater built in the Roman Empire that seated over 50,000, where gladiatorial contests and public events were attended by the rich, the poor and by the Emperor himself. Discover the delights of Rome this afternoon on your own. Tonight, embark on a scenic drive through the city before stopping for dinner in a local restaurant with wine and music
