Day By Day Itinerary

DAY 1, Tuesday - Arrive in Reno
Arrive in Reno. Transfer independently to the hotel. Balance of the day is at leisure. Tonight, attend an orientation meeting with your Tour Manager on the exciting journey that awaits you. Your tour will begin with an orientation meeting with your Tour Manager at approximately 7 pm on the day of arrival. We recommend that you select flights which arrive in your destination no later than 5 pm on Day 1 of the itinerary or earlier, if possible

DAY 2, Wednesday - Virginia City, Trolley Tour, Ponderosa Mine, Travel to South Lake Tahoe
Depart Reno this morning and drive to the historic Virginia City. The town became a booming mining establishment overnight, with the discovery of the Comstock Lode in 1859. Take a narrated trolley tour of Virginia City and step back in time to the Wild West. View Victorian-era buildings, Old West saloons and learn about the town's history. After, visit the Ponderosa Mine, located in the heart of Virginia City's historic downtown. During your tour, view complete underground mine workings and displays featuring pieces of antique mining equipment. Later, drive to your hotel in South Lake Tahoe. This evening, gather together with your fellow travelers for a Welcome Dinner

DAY 3, Thursday - Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe Cruise
Morning drive to Emerald Bay, the jewel of Lake Tahoe’s natural sights. Its waters are a bright blue-green color, due to the shallowness of the bay and the remarkable clarity of the lake. Right in the middle of the bay, view the tiny Fannette Island, home to the lake’s only islet. Along the way, stop to admire the cascading waterfalls of Eagle Falls, lush green mountain scenery and breathtaking views of Emerald Bay. Later, head to Zephyr Cove to embark on a scenic cruise of beautiful Lake Tahoe. Marvel at the alpine beauty of the surrounding area as you glide across the water aboard the M.S. Dixie II paddle wheeler. Afterward, return back to your hotel for time at leisure

DAY 4, Friday - Travel to Yosemite
Depart Lake Tahoe and head south towards Yosemite National Park. Awe-inspiring vistas await you on the drive through the Tioga Pass. At an elevation of 9,940 feet, it is the highest pass between Yosemite Valley and eastern California. Upon arrival at your hotel in Yosemite, spend the evening at leisure

DAY 5, Saturday - Explore Yosemite National Park
Discover the rugged beauty of Yosemite National Park, best known for its magnificent natural attractions. You'll be welcomed to the Yosemite Valley by Bridalveil Falls, one of the park's most prominent waterfalls that thunders during springtime, but has a calm and swaying flow for the rest of the year. View El Capitan, a favorite for experienced rock climbers, the largest monolith of granite in the world, and Half Dome, the recognizable symbol of Yosemite that rises nearly 5000 feet above the Valley floor. Continue to Glacier Point, an overlook offering stunning views of Yosemite Valley, Half Dome, Yosemite Falls, and Yosemite's high country. Later, return back to your hotel

DAY 6, Sunday - 17 Mile Drive, Carmel, Monterey
Today, depart Yosemite and drive past the rich farmlands of the San Joaquin Valley and the peaceful San Luis Reservoir. Later, travel along the breathtaking Monterey Bay Peninsula, known as the "17 Mile Drive", widely recognized as one of the most picturesque panoramas in the world. The famous coastal landmark runs from the dramatic Pacific coastline to the majestic Del Monte Forest with awe-inspiring vistas at every turn. Marvel at some of nature's treasures found along the drive including The Lone Cypress, one of California's best-known landmarks, and the Cypress Point Lookout. Continue on to the charming seaside town of Carmel, a haven for writers, artists, and celebrities. Afterward, arrive in stunning Monterey with its extraordinary coastline and check into your hotel

DAY 7, Monday - Travel to San Francisco
A scenic drive this morning takes you to San Francisco. Upon arrival, spend free time to explore the city on your own. Visit Ghirardelli Square and sample some delicious chocolate at the Ghirardelli Chocolate Company, the oldest continuously operating chocolate manufacturer in America. Tonight, discover the city's world-class restaurants

DAY 8, Tuesday - Wine Country Tour
Today, escape to California's famous wine country. Depart San Francisco and travel north to Sonoma Valley, one of America's premier wine regions. Along the way, admire picturesque views of rolling hills and vineyards. Visit celebrated wineries for guided tours and tastings. Learn about the history of the area and the winemaking process. Viticulture in the region started when Spanish missionaries brought grapes over from Europe in the early 19th century. Stop for lunch before continuing with your tour. Tonight, bid goodbye to the "City by the Bay" at the Farewell Dinner with your Tour Manager and fellow travelers
