Dar Al Makahzen in Fes

Among the distinctive features of Morocco is that every imperial city hosts a marvelous royal palace. That of Fes is called Dar Al Makahzen, or the storage house. This marvelous structure served as the residence of the royal family.

The most magnificent feature of the complex of Dar Al Makahzen in Fes is the façade with its rich Moorish decorations. This is in addition to the marvelously decorated large gates. Many tourists who travel to Morocco enjoy a visit to the royal palace of Fes.

Enclosed inside the impressive walls of Dar Al Makahzen, there are many gardens and various buildings dating to different periods of the Moroccan history. There are also some sections that are still opened only for the royal family of Morocco.
