Etchmiadzin Cathedral in Armenia

Etchmiadzin Cathedral is the major church in Armenia and one of the major touristic attractions added to several travel packages to Armenia.

Situated in the city of Vagharshapat, this was the first church ever to be established in Armenia. Some historians also consider it as the most ancient cathedral in the whole world. The very first church is said to be built around the beginning of the 4th century.

The church we view today was actually built and renovated later on in history. It has a distinctive cruciform outline with on cupola at the middle. The interior of the Etchmiadzin Cathedral represents a full illustration of the Christian architecture in Armenia.
