Situated in the Southern section of the country, Herculaneum was a large ancient establishment that was located to the South East of the city of Naples. Today, many travel packages to Italy include visits to Herculaneum. Historians assert that Herculaneum was established during the 6th century BC. However, during the 1st century AD, the town was largely damaged due to the Vesuvius eruption. Nevertheless, there are many remarkable ruins to be explored today. The most notable places in Herculaneum include the House of Aristides, the House of Argus, Villa of the Papyri, and the boat houses. This is in addition to several wall paintings, marbled floors, and mosaics. Italy link: https://www.righttravel.info/country/italy-3.html |
