The Ancient Tiwanaku in Bolivia

Tiwanaku is a historical site that once belonged to Colombia. Today, it represents one of the ancient sites tourists who travel to Bolivia are keen to explore.

Although historians claim that there has been life in Tiwanaku as early as the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD, with the population of the town over 80,000 inhabitants, the first record of modern history goes back to the 16th century.

Among the most remarkable places to explore in Tiwanaku, there is the Akapana Pyramid. This structure is over 250 meters wide and around 16 meters in height. There is also the Pumapunku platform which is more than 160 meters long and had multiple purposes in ancient times.
