The Arenal Volcano in Costa Rica

Costa Rica is one of the impressive countries of Central America. The Arenal Volcano is one of the distinctive natural phenomena of Costa Rica.The volcano was active for quite a long period of time in medieval times. It was discovered in 1937 in the district of La Fortuna, as the whole area before that date was covered by trees. Today many travelers spending their holidays in Costa Rica love to view the volcano.


No reactions were recorded of Arenal Volcano for more than 400 years now. It gains a few meters of height every year with quantities of magmas at its top. These magmas keep flowing from the volcano to the valley beneath. Some of these huge burning hot stones have diameters up to 7 meters. However, vacationers who visit Costa Rica should never worry as they view the whole scene from a safe distance.
