Located in Toledo, the Church of Santo Tomé is one of the most distinctive Christian monuments of Spain. Constructed around the 12th century over the ruins of an ancient mosque, the Church of Santo Tome was totally rebuilt during the 14th century by Gonzalo Ruiz de Toledo. The Church is in fact a masterpiece of art. Many elements of the ancient mosque were transformed into Christian structures. A good example is the minaret of the mosque that was altered into a bell tower. A visit to the Church of Santo Tome is included in many travel packages to Spain. The main structure of the Church of Santo Tome consists of three large naves which lead to the large central chapel. The Chapel of Conception is one of the richly decorated parts of Christian arts with many icons and elements. Many tourists who visit Spain admire the wonders of the church.
