The Churches of Chiloe in Chile

The Churches of Chiloé are of unique architecture and historical significance. Situated at the Archipelago of Chiloé, these marvelous churches were constructed using the local wood produced in the area. Today, they represent an important touristic site included in several tours to Chile.

These magnificent churches of Chiloé were built in the period between the 17th and 19th century when Chiloé followed the rule of the Spanish authorities. The churches represent an amazing integration between the European outlines with the skills and patterns of the local artisans.

Included in the World Heritage Sites list in 2000, the most interesting churches include the Church of Achao, the Church of Quinchao, the Church of San Francisco, the Church of Aldachildo, and the Church of Nercón.
