The City of Madaba in Jordan

The city of Madaba is among the most distinctive touristic destinations tourists who travel to Jordan are keen to explore. Located only 33 kilometers to the South West of Amman, the Jordanian capital, this makes it a wonderful destination for day and half-day tours.

The city was established by the Kingdom of Moab around the 13th century BC. It played a significant role during the Byzantine period. Madaba hosted a large number of churches.

The major attractions of the city of Madaba include ancient Byzantine mosaics that are included inside the famous Archeological Park of the city. There are also the mosaics of the ancient Roman camp that was founded around the middle of the 5th century BC.
