The City of Ouarzazate in Morocco

Ouarzazate is a Moroccan city located in the South Eastern region of the kingdom.Nicknamed as the capital of cinema, the city is located around 200 kilometers to the South East of Marrakesh. Established in the beginning of the 20 th century,Ouarzazate is famous for hosting the shooting of many famous international movies. Ouarzazate is also one of the most popular touristic destionations that welcome several tourists who spend their vacations in Morocco.
The word Ouarzazate in fact consists of two tribal words that mean no noise. He founded this large complex and palace to be his residence with his wife. Today, it became one of the most important touristic sports commonly visited by many tourists who spend their holidays in Morocco.

The complex is featured with its distinctive architecture. Made mainly out of mud and hay, the Kasbah has two gates, one in its northern section, while the other one is located in the South. This where a large number of travelers who tour Morocco enter the complex.

There are two main sections in the complex, one is called the king’s arena; which was specified for the celebrations and for welcoming visitors and the other one was where women and the other members of the family used to live. Although, the complex has gone through several restoration phases, many of its original elements and features are still intact. Nobody visits the city of Ouarzazate without exploring the Cinema Museum. Established in 1981, the museum was in fact constructed as the setting of a historical movie. Afterwards, the governor of the city was impressed with it and asked the workers to leave it as it is. This was the first step in the foundation of this magnificent museum that welcomes hundreds of tourists who enjoy their vacations in Morocco.

With a surface area of more than 20,000 square meters, the museum hosts many replicas of famous sections representing many civilizations including the Pharaonic, Roman, Greek, and Islamic.
