The Gateway of India

When the Suez Canal was dig in Egypt, around the middle of the 19th century, a city in India called Mumbai was established as a commercial center serving trading caravans and routes. Today many tourists who travel to India would explore Mumbai.

One of the most remarkable historical sites of Mumbai is the Gateway to India. Built to welcome King George and Queen Mary in 1913 among their visit to India, the Gateway to India is now one of the monuments included in many travel packages to India.

The most important event that took place at the Gateway to India was when the British troops declared that they are leaving the country in 1948. This is among the reasons why it became an important landmark of India with many tourists keen to explore it.
