The Simplon Pass in Switzerland

The Simplon Pass is a popular passageway between the Pennine Alps and the Lepontine Alps in Switzerland. With its impressive height, being more than 2000 meters, it is quite a favorite destination for tourists who visit Switzerland.

In fact, for many centuries, there was always a passageway between the Alps Mountains. However, when the French troops took control of this area at the beginning of the 19th century, they constructed a road to help them transfer army equipment and weapons.

Afterwards, in the 1950s the road witnessed some improvements. However, the state we view today goes back to the 1970s when the government carried out a plan to enhance the whole rout. Today, the Simplon Pass is among the places tourists who visit Switzerland are keen to explore.
