The Tatev Monastery in Armenia

Many tourists who visit Armenia sometimes miss the opportunity to explore the Tatev Monastery. This is because of its isolated location. However, the monastery is considered a gem of Armenian medieval architecture

The Tatev Monastery was founded during the 9th century. Afterwards, it was transformed to become an important intellectual center after the establishment of the Tatev University which witnessed the graduation of many monks and scholars.

There are many establishments inside the monastery that are worth exploring. These monuments include the 11th century S. Astvatsatsin church, the Gavazan pillar, Chapel of St. Pogos and Petros, and the Funeral chapel of St. Gregory.
