The Urnes Stave Church is one of the distinctive monuments of Norway. Established in the 12th century, the church is located near the village of Solvorn on the Eastern side of the Lustrafjorden fjord. The church represents one of the most innovative wooden structures that were established in Norway in medieval times. With the outline of a Christian Basilica, the Urnes Stave Church is among the most popular touristic sites in Norway. Included in the UNESCO World Heritage sites, the church was constructed in 1130 AD. The church is popular for its primitive yet distinctive decorations exemplifying the arts of the Viking culture. Today, many travel packages to Norway include a visit to the church. Norway link: https://www.righttravel.info/country/norway-99.html |
